Paint thickness measurements

Traditionally a destructive test method is used to determine paint thickness. Today, the primary purpose of ultrasonic testing is to non-destructively measure the TOTAL thickness of the paint system.

The concept of paint thickness measurement derives from the high costs incurred during painting any product whether for protection of a product from the agents of corrosion, for giving it a smooth surface finish or simply to make it visually appealing.

The thickness in coating is directly responsible for quality of the product and also helps in the process control and the reduction in cost. The paint thickness are measured with different types of instruments and used in various painting industries and manufacturing units.
